Main Applications
Polymer Material Synthesis:
Production of Polystyrene (PS): General-purpose PS is used for packaging, toys, and tableware; Expanded PS (EPS) is used for thermal insulation materials and cushion packaging;
Synthesis of ABS resin, Styrene-Butadiene Rubber (SBR), and Styrene-Butadiene Latex (used for adhesives and coatings);
Preparation of Unsaturated Polyester Resin (copolymerized with maleic anhydride and ethylene glycol, used for fiberglass and coatings).
Other Applications:
Used as a solvent in the coatings and ink industries (however, due to volatility and toxicity, it is gradually being replaced by low-toxicity solvents);
Used for synthesizing fragrances and pharmaceutical intermediates (such as phenethyl alcohol). Main Applications
